Circus Stories of Gravity & Other Myths

The passion for innovative and experimental approaches in contemporary circus has connected the La Strada Graz Festival and Cirque Noël with the Australian company Gravity & Other Myths for many years. The diverse artistic expressions, creativity, and humor of these exceptional artists captivate and enchant audiences around the world.

At the turn of the year, they will bring two productions to the stage at the Orpheum Graz for Cirque Noël: the globally acclaimed piece The Mirror and the brand-new work 10,000 Hours, co-produced with Cirque Noël. Both pieces are characterized by extraordinary staging, acrobatic virtuosity, and innovative multimedia concepts with live music.

Around Christmastime, the artists use The Mirror to explore the omnipresent entertainment industry, questioning what true authenticity means in our digital age.

And in the New Year, Gravity & Other Myths presents 10,000 Hours, depicting the countless hours of work required to achieve extraordinary skills—the very skills that amaze us on stage.

Founded in 2009 in Adelaide, South Australia, by young acrobats Lachlan Binns, Jasha Boyce, Elliot Zoerner, Jacob Randell, and Martin Schreiber, the works of the company Gravity & Other Myths consistently focus on complex human relationships.

Since the premiere of A Simple Space at Cirque Noël in 2017, the festival has accompanied the group on their journey, and several co-productions with the La Strada Festival have already been realized and performed in Graz. The artists explore the multifaceted elements of contemporary circus as an innovative and cross-genre art form, merging music, video art, and light design into true masterpieces of stagecraft. Unmistakable, inspiring, authentic, and always one step ahead of gravity.
